Football Manchester United vs Liverpool: Official Match Day Thread : 24/10/21 4:30pm

Man United Last 5 Games (League): W - W - L - D - L

Liverpool last 5 games (League): W - W - D - D - W

Last meeting at Old Trafford between the two sides finished 2 - 4 to the dippers after United were punished for starting with a centreback partnership of Lindelof and Bailly, a poor mistake from Henderson and sloppy defending from set pieces. - Match Report

Man United Team news: Fernandes set to be part of the squad after injury doubts, as is Rashford after picking up a knock midweek. Martial reportedly fit enough to be included in the match day squad. Fred's a doubt after also picking up a knock against Atalanta. Varane and Diallo still injured. Although based on what Solskjaer has said, it's possible (although unlikely) that everyone could be back and fit for the game.

Liverpool Team news: Curtis Jones back fit, Thiago still sidelined. Klopps eyes have fully healed and his teeth whitening has nicely set in.

Fixture titbits:
We've won just one of our last 10 meetings against Liverpool in the Premier League.

A win here would be the first time the dippers have recorded back to back league victories at Old Trafford in almost two decades (January 2002).

The last time we conceded 4+ goals in the same fixture twice in a row was almost 60 years ago (Burnley in 61/62 and 62/63).

We're without a clean sheet at home in the league for 9 games, our longest run since going 10 games in February 1971.

Prediction : Neither hugely exciting, nor a drab affair. A tense game finishes 2-2 after a respectable performance from the home team with both Ronaldo and Salah on the scoresheets.

Starting lineup:

Had a dream they won 4-0 overnight.

Heart says a 2-0 win, head says a vermin win. Scouse bastards.

Think we'll win if Pogba doesn't start and lose if he does.

Wonderful work indeed. I wonder if he had the template all set up last night, or if he was up at 5am crafting that for us.

Maybe not since Moyes have the Dippers been expected to batter us. Wouldn't be surprised with 3-0 by half time to the vermin. But, I'm going for 2-1 United. £#%&! it

The 6am edit suggests he's riddled with self doubt. Burnt the candle at both ends for us and deserves green imo. But can only rep if we get the three points as is defacto standard

Far too many going down the ‘we’re expected to lose so we’ll no doubt end up winning’ route.

Listen, if everyone comes out with that then we, by default, expect to win. That’s damn dangerous talk right there.

The way to play the pessimistic card is to genuinely believe we’ll lose, get hammered even, and then be surprised if and when we don’t.

Amateurs.
