Red face "Alex Ferguson has never let a player go he didn't want to"

There must be an exception to this rule?

I can't think of one.

Although I think Gaby Heinze may be on in a subtle kind of way.

Stam didn't want to go. He cried when he was told he had to leave.

Indeed - he'd just ordered a new kitchen...

How is that admirable?

There's a few cases where United/Player didn't want to leave but they have because of Fergie.

Beckham
Schmeichel

Off the top of my head.

Cantona and Schmeichel quit, they were not sold against Ferguson's wishes.

Kanchelskis and Beckham were both sold with Ferguson's blessing, the former because he was a shady £#%&!er who was more trouble than he was worth and the latter because he was worth £25m and his time had come.

Players who didn't want to leave is not relevant to the thread, although Beckham is obviously one of them.

Find it hard to think of a player who had done better after leaving United so can't knock his judgement.

Not to mention the ways in which Ruud and Keane left and all the players mentioned above.

Fergie could be done for murder and you'd still stand up in court saying he didn't do it.

I don't like the way the anti-fergie crowd blame everything on him but the man is not perfect.
