We're £#%&!ing up a regular amount by any season's standards tbh.

The team at the top have played 20 games, won 18 and drawn 2. How the £#%&! are you supposed to keep up with that?

Don’t lose to them at home?

Clearly they’d always be top. Think you could say if the league is so shite we should be a bit nearer though. If this year the league is especially bad, then we shouldn’t be £#%&!ing up at normal rate should we

This is the thing though, isn't it?

Would love to see the stats as to what the historical average points total is for the team at the top at say, after the New Year's Day fixtures, since 3 points for a win was introduced, and how far on either side of that City and United are this season.

Some of United's results have been poor this season nqat, but didn't I read somewhere that our points haul by this Christmas was at least as good as seven of our title winning seasons in the PL era?

Point being, we could have done better for sure, but wouldn't we still be at least 7-8 points behind City if we'd picked up more points against say Stoke, Huddersfield, Southampton and Burnley?

What City have done is unprecedented. Even Arsenal's so-called Invincibles weren't THAT far ahead.

gee... I don't know. it would involve beating teams like huddersfield, burnley, southampton and maybe score some sitters against leicester or don't leave an injured player covering the back post. there's 9 points, for starters. and not being £#%&!ing gutless when playing city.

Sure, it’s just that Sparks tends to the view that City battering this league is a sign that it’s the weakest Premier League in 20 years or so. If that is true the surely we should be more dominant than we are too. Maybe not to the extent of City, but closer.

Our results are okay. My fear has been that they had flattered us for months. The three draws over Christmas didn’t surprise me at all.

Arsenal's "invincibles " weren't particularly remarkable in terms of their points total or goals scored, or any other statistical level other than the zero in the L column.

We drew four of our last five away games, four of those games coming between April 25th and May 12th. We played Leeds away on April 25th and drew 1-1, then between May 5th and May 12th we played Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Blackburn, all away. The only win in that sequence was at Boro.

I remember the game against Brian Kidd's Blackburn being more nervy to watch than the Liverpool game tbh. A loss there would have really £#%&!ed us up. The 0-0 draw there sent Blackburn down and Kidd got sacked iirc.

Still, it all turned out well in the end, despite Ince & Kidd's best efforts
Mad to think we won the league on 79 points that season and thank £#%&! Leeds beat Arsenal in the penultimate game because they were absolutely flying at the time.

Hasselbaink.

Viduka didn’t join them until 2000.

Back post diving header

A young Alan Smith had Adams and Keown chasing him around fuming for leaving the boot in and mouthing off at them, was comedy tbf given he was so young and they were veterans.

City's results are something of a phenomenon. At the same point in time, Arsenal's "invincibles" #leagueonlyyoucockney@#%&!s had drawn seven times and would be ten points adrift. If we'd drawn the three we've lost this season, we'd similarly be ten adrift of City. It's more like a FIFA Be A Pro season on easy where you're winning every game apart from the ones you skip.

We're currently best of a bad bunch and have our best centre back out until March. Traditionally we're also stronger in the second half of the season (albeit mostly under SAF) so there's every chance we'll pick up the pace and while we may not gain on the berts, we should guarantee 4th to give us a better chance at a cup.
