Itís a simple quesstion of personal responsibility. If someone is truly addicted to something it would be impossible to stop. What we call addiction is simply a strong craving or a strong desire to do something usually immediate pleasurable at the expense of their long term interests. There is no outside agency or compulsion. They make a decision that is available to them each time they spark a cig, take a drink, stick the shopping money on sad ken in the 3:30 at Chepstow. People repeatedly make bad decisions until they summon up the wherewithal to make a better one. The correctness of this view is reinforced by the fact that people stop all the time.

ďDo or not do. There is no try. Hmmmm.Ē

The incorrectness of that view is reinforced by people not stopping all the time.

Anyhoo. Repetition of any action creates or damages neural circuitry. Unraveling all that is complicated and complex. Sometimes people stop suddenly through trauma, a repetition of that trauma or a similar experience can lead to relapse no matter the strength of a persons perceived mental health

Thanks for playing the lowest common denominator stereotype game. You've won again. Well done...
