A figure that should have been no problem for us to meet, seeing that we'd just received the best part of 100 million quid for Ronaldo all at once. But then we all know where that money went.
We didn't want to pay the £25m and were trying to negotiate it down iirc, in reality we didn't want to keep him which didn't make sense as we knew Ronaldo was leaving at the end of the season. For a couple of years prior we looked liked we'd nailed recruitment, that summer was horrific and a precursor of things to come, we never recovered.

£400k net pay a week from City for a player who openly refused to play and told his manager to £#%&! off in front of the tv cameras just so they could show Utd how MASSIVE they were. Desperate @#%&!s.

That game we went 4-2-4 against Spurs

Was just a shit sandwich the way he left. The beginning of the shambles this ownership has reduced us to.

The crossers just knew where to find him, and he knew where to be.
Virtually replica goals.

3 goals out side the box from that 34.

Those 3 were brilliant players in their own right but were also perfect foils for each other.

I loved Cantona and Hughes together but that front three were playing a different game.

Yeah, a Man City 'month'. Even if it was those bastards were probably paying him three times that off the books.

Was galling watching him improve there.

He was immense at home to Barca in 08.

Definitely a bit overrated for us although obviously a top player all the same.

Best comment I recall on here when we sold him was (not verbatim)

“Never liked him anyway, scurrying little @#%&!”

One of my favourite individual performances, didn't give an inch all match and put Puyol out of the game in the first minutes. Not signing him that summer should have set alarm bells ringing.

Always felt SAF didn’t like the Kia Joorabchin aspect of having the player.

Our best South American signing by a distance. Obviously wanted to stay as he raised his game massively just to try and shove it up us when he went there. #glazernomics
