8:56 is one of my favourite goals ever.

I use Beckham as a simple test to see if anyone I'm meeting understands football.

Was Beckham Messi? No.

Was he a world class player in his position?

Absolutely.

I'd forgotten the speed on him too - he could motor lonesome of those goals.

Ronaldo must have loved playing in front of him.

Those goals too ffs.

What a player.

To think we had a midfield of him, Keane, scholes and Giggs.

We were so lucky.

Scholes was absolutely fantastic and his passing and goalscoring were incredible.

Beckham was slightly more effective imho and the fact he had success in France, Italy, Spain and US means something too.

Scholes and Beckham are two completely different kinds of mids though. Feels odd comparing them as they were both brilliant in their roles and probably the best at what they did. Beckham’s work rate was something else and perhaps he had a more uplifting effect on those around him? Certainly later on in his career anyway.

I think we missed Scholes more when he was out the team...

Did that actually ever happen? I know Solskjaer was used right when Beckham left but I can’t remember a time when he played instead of him.

Run in for Beckham's final season when we won the league, Solskjaer was picked ahead of him in some big games.

Doesn’t sound right that Ferguson would make that kind of decision.

my point being that he made the decision because he was a contrary @#%&! whose amazing man management skills often made him make similar decisions.
