Smalling motm against City (first full start?? ..or near enough anyway) ..Jones was going to be our "best player ever" according to somebody or other.

Let's just see how it goes.
Was thinking this today with Harrop's debut. Had quite a few false dawns with youth players. Need to keep perspective. Could be great. Could be at Sunderland in 12 months.

yep
Jones is a decent Footballer tbf & a good lad too.
He gets far too much stick on here imo, but I think those Duncan Edwards comparisons were a little bit premature to say the least.

Exactly.
I don't even say it in a negative way either. Nobody would be more chuffed than me if our front 2 leading the line over the next few years was Rashford & Harrop. I'd be 100% behind any gamble to build a side around these kids going forward ..but they can fall away sadly.

Fingers crossed for this current crop though because they seem to have something about them

I think Harrop has a chance of taking over the Lingard role in the squad as he can play all 3 positions behind the centre forward and has a better goal threat than Jesse

Tuanzabe has the potential to become a very good player. Obviously a lot had to go right for any young player to fulfill their potential, but Tuanzabe seems to have the right attitude as well as the attributes that would see him succeed in modern football

What I liked about yesterday is all of the kids had attitude about them, none of them seemed overawed by the occasion of making their debut (or 2nd start in Tuanzabe's case) and if anything looked relaxed. Yes it was a dead rubber and last game of the season, but they still performed very well against professional senior players.

The Lingard that just signed a 4 year contract at £100k a week? Not sure his squad role is up for grabs tbh...

Too good for Villa. Should be higher up the pecking order at Utd. Even as a CB he is a far better RB than Darmian
