Our midfield, as it is, going into next season, is dropping to the level it was in 2005. Not saying it's there yet but it's getting there.

I felt my heart sagging as I read that. Genuinely. That would be my first port of call if there was any funding available.

Plenty of alternatives. 8 of them.
Can't believe we're including Obes as a possible first choice. Can't even believe he makes the bench for a club like United.

Perhaps saying these things to avoid prices being driven up - or is that just being optimistic?

Just read the article ans it seems to me that fergie was commenting on the midfield that we have to finish the season, not for starting next season.

he always does this, wouldn't pay much attention to it at all.
