I would like to see at the home game nearest to the 6th February 2008 the team play in an EXACT replica kit of 1958. No names,no AIG, no PL Logos and players numbered 1 -11. I would NOT like to see the shirt being offered for sale by the club. It could happen IF the club had the will to do it. I know the PL might kick up about it but I am sure they would understand that it was a gesture from the club as a mark of respect for those who died. A lot of people contacted me to say they agreed with the idea. Some one else decided to set up the petition and I was not aware of the wording or even the existence of the petition before I saw a link to it. It was obvious that United would look to commemorate the 50th anniversary in some way whether you liked it or not. I personally wanted to see this done in a tasteful way that remembered those who died as United players and not some names on a sheet of paper, nor did I want to see it turn into some commercialised money making exercise. I thought the Kit idea fitted the bill. I know that a few people have an issue with the whole thing turning into a 'Scouse-esque' weepathon, so do I. United were always going to do more than a 'minutes silence/applause', so the idea was put to them. Theres no more or less reasoning behind it. If you agree with it thats great, if you don't well ask yourself what could they have come up with. The knuckle dragging element of the Cithai fans will no doubt abuse a silence / applause. How do they abuse a Kit?? Hopefully its going to be right in front of them for 90 minutes. |

The wheels are still in motion and I am still extremely hopeful of a positive outcome.
I am still waiting to hear from a contact about the outcome of a meeting that was held very recently. I know that if everything I have been told comes to fruition then a lot of credit will have to be given to ' another party' who are normally on the end of an enormous amount of grief from United fans. |

Anyway, I think it's a great idea so hopefully scousebasher is right and it'll go ahead. Regardless, you've done sterling work pushing this with the club denis, top stuff. |

Sorry but my contact told me in confidence and I am not about to break that confidence however much I would love to say exactly what I have been told. All I am going to say is Have you heard anyone say 'No'?? Mind you if they do I am quite happy to let you know exactly so the wrath of United fans can be heaped upon them for eternity. |

Dont think this is going to happen now, it was given serious thought, but they dont want the danger of turning the game against City into some overboard Munich tribute event.
Something is planned for the 6th Feb, not sure what, but its not a game. They did want to have a game, but its international week. More like an event pre-game similar to the George Best event before West Brom. |

I think blank red shirts and a minutes silence would be sufficient. |
