He was a very good player. Easy to forget he was already in his 30s when he joined Chelsea.

He was also a genuine nice guy, which likely did lead to some overrating him just a little.

Absolutely.

It’s like the overrating of “humble” lads like Kante. Quality player but you’d think he was from another planet the way commentary and media talked him up.
