Which transfer has got you the most 'excited'?

I was only young at the time. Loved Choccy though, even when he went a bit shit.

One of the more recent ones was Berbatov. I genuinely thought we'd go on and dominate Europe after we bought him.

I was expecting him to be a proper number 9 and lead the line in a side like this:

Van Der Sar

Back Four

Hargreaves Carrick

Ronaldo Tevez Rooney

Berbatov

Obviously things didn't work out quite how I'd hoped.

i always like it when we sign a few players, just because it brings a new look to the team. when we signed ole, johnsen, cruyff, poborsky etc in 1996 it was interesting to see how they'd all fit in, even if ultimately some of them, er, didn't

in terms of big signings, cole, yorke and ruud were all exciting, just 'cos you knew they'd score for fun.

Which had been badly shown up in Europe the previous season - there is no doubt things had gone a bit stale.

The point is, Veron *did* ultimately fail, but there were still tantalising glimpses of what might have been
