Post fergie has there even been a single transfer they got right? Maybe Bruno but he’s been off it last season. Even I give you that. They’ve had one good transfer in 10-11 years
Bruno. Martial is a weird one because he looked great when he first joined .. but looking back didn't remember how his goal scoring fell off a cliff following season. Also didn't remember him being £50 million. So much wasted potential with that lad

Herrera was OK for what he was. Blind OK. Ibra good. But yeah other than that .. you probably have to go back to RVP & Scholes rejoining to find decent 'value' in the transfers for the past decade

The defence has been the real issue .. other than Varane not a single player of 'pedigree' signed and they've thrown what must be £300 million at it

I guess Ronaldo should be added to the list. We paid about £12m for him and he was our top scorer.

Him, Zlatan and Bruno is pretty much it in 9 years. And 2 of those were short term fixes. Pretty damning.

Was £36m - rising to £57m if he hit a load of targets. The only he has hit is an appearance total as far as I remember so will be £37m total. That Ballon D'or clause

I think this De Jong deal stalls til the end of the window, feels like Barca want to mug us right off & panic into contributing to his outstanding wages / bonuses because we need him in asap. They're smearing him in the press & he's just sitting tight in a rock & a hard place.

The reality is we should be buying more midfielders than just FDJ this summer, Fred should see minimal game time next season if we have any expectations of improving. McTommers needs to step it up massively with a defined box to box role & not a holding / defensive slot.

Neves is far too expensive at £70m - half that maybe but £70m

I'm not sure how we don't have at least a new striker through the door after knowing Cavani was leaving & Greenwood's (*spit*) situation

Greenwood situation typifies that pall of 'bad luck' hanging over the club. Of all the f***ing players to turn out as rotten ones it had to be him .. one of only a couple at the club we've had come through the door with the ability to have staked place in a title winning side over decade to come

Midfield really needs 3 in including FDJ. All joking aside McFred don't make the match day squad of any of the top 4 let alone touch the pitch. Bennacer, Kessie, Tielemans, Bentancur, Bissouma all on the move ... even Villa sweeping up French international defensive mids who'd improve us What is going on.

Would be utterly inept if we didn't have a plan b and just waste another month chasing this transfer though.
Someone with ten hag’s mentality will have a plan A-Z.

He can have all the plans in the world, if the owners/board/recruitment are inept or just don’t back him to the extent that he requires, no plan in the world will work for him

“BACK TO DRAWING BOARD FOR TEN HAG AS FRENKIE DE JONG HOPES CRUMBLE

Manchester United are ready to move on to options B and C, having seen their efforts to land Frenkie de Jong ultimately count for nothing.

New Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has made the capture of a new midfielder his No 1 priority this summer. The position is deemed an area of weakness for United, who laboured to a sixth-place finish last season. And the exits of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have made their need all the more important.

As such, a reunion with former protege De Jong has always been Ten Hag’s No 1 aim. After eventually agreeing a deal with Barcelona, they then encountered staunch resistance from the player.

And now it seems the deal is officially off with a report listing 10 reasons why De Jong is refusing to sign for United.

That spells bitter disappointment for United who have pursued the transfer all summer long.

Now the Daily Mirror claims the club are considering two alternative signings in midfield.

Their top target is seemingly Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves. The Portugal star has been at Molineux since 2017. During that time he has helped Wolves earn promotion and established himself as one of the Premier League’s top midfielders.

With two years left on his deal, Wolves, however, are not allowing his sale on the cheap. Indeed, they reportedly value the 25-year-old at a huge £70m.”
So basically the circle of shite, citing other reports and making a story out of it.

You can add one good signing in fergie’s last 4-5 years.

I like Arnold and Murtough's strategy in this meeting with Barca

We're going to sign De Jong and you have only two options Yes or Yes
