Mentioned him a few times and largely got shot down. Get the feeling the ones taking shots seemed to be the type who never rated Carrick. We need a player who excels at Mid to long range passing and retains the ball, if Carrick is out we have to completely change our game to make up for the lack of those who caress balls gently and expertly. Admittedly Cabaye isn't deployed as deep as Carrick but he certainly does posses some of his qualities. I'd give Pirlo a go if he was available in the summer, players that have never relied on pace and explosive power will play til they are ready for a bus pass due to modern training and fitness practices without having to drastically alter their playing style.

Imagine getting him Vidal and Controwe within the next week. Go on imagine it. It Aint £#%&!ing happening. Hope is a terrible thing.
