No less reputable source than the Daily Star is reporting that we have opened negotiations to sign Senor Alonso in January. I'm sure they wouldn't print it if it weren't true.

Would be a good signing IMO. And would piss off the Scousers no end.

Khedira might be off anyway, he was sort of half-heartedly approached by United late in the last window, and there was a thing in my free paper on the train this morning saying Ramires has "vowed" to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place should they sign Khedira.

I like Alonso, was delighted when he left the verm in the lurch. I'd love it but couldn't see it.

He's really not. One time in the Spanish press he was asked what's different at Madrid, he said the crowd are harder to please but he prefers it that way because if they do take to you you know you've earned it. The verm took it as a compliment, the silly bastards
