Has to be seen as a poor summer if vdb is the only signing. On his own he's obviously not enough to close the gap on city or liverpool, both of whom have strengthened.

If we're putting all our eggs in the sancho basket that's a hell of a risk.

It’s very frustrating watching your rivals improving while all we get are £#%&!ing sagas.

If I was Ole I'd be pissed - missing out on Erling Haaland and now Jadon Sancho...

£#%&! me this is annoying....spend some £#%&!ing money already and strengthen the squad

money will come in with sponsorships, CL money and gate money(once they open back up to capacity)

but you can't sit there with your dick in your hand while every top team around you gets better and have a deeper squad

Yup. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City - hell, arguably even Spurs and Everton have strengthened more than we have. They're all teams looking for a top 6 finish. We're still ahead of spurs and everton as a team obvs but can anyone hand on heart say we'll definitely be on for top 4 if we don't get any more signings in? And that's just top 4 ffs, the absolute bare minimum requirement.

My arse is twitching nqat.

People cannot honestly be surprised by this surely?

How can you not have seen this coming?

They don't care. Top 4 is now our target as a club. It makes the most financial sense.

The extra money they'd have to fork over to bridge the gap between us and the best teams in europe isn't worth the return of winning the league or anything else of note.

What will you say if the Sancho deal gets done next week? Why don’t you let the window close before weighing in with the slightly patronising ‘you should all just listen to me’ shit. You already said we weren’t signing anyone at all.

Sancho is a 10 year signing with fantastic marketability. He's not getting us any closer to winning the league, really, we need a good 4 or 5 players for that, but makes sense from a business pov and the attempts at consolidating top 4.

They're banking on players coming through the ranks to fill the gaps and the odd signing for the foreseeable it would seem..

Just all be thankful we got Bruno in before this pandemic hit, because there's no way in hell he'd be here if we had to buy him now.

Absolutely hates any justified criticism of the club does utd99ers, bloody hates it.

Yes there is time left in the window but wouldn't it be ideal to have the players in for pre-season (albeit a very short one) or at least for the first game of the season?

Actually he is, our defence has been solidly among the best in the league for years, the big problem at the start of last season was struggling to beat shite teams because we had no creativity, we've sorted that out, the problem that meant we didn't coast to third was that we were playing the same XI week in week out, Sancho and Van de Beek will help with that too.

If we'd had Bruno from the start and Pogba hadn't broken his fanny early on last season, we'd have been clear in 3rd and way closer to the Berts. If Liverpool go like they did last season it doesn't matter who we sign they'll be tough to keep up with, but we will be closer even if we sign nobody else, because we'll be able to rotate the midfield and forwards without the quality and creativity dropping off a cliff.

Indeed, but that is rarely how we have done things for a long time now.
