Default Mississippi Burning

Based on a true story apparently.

Was the story rubbished? I can't remember.

Anyway I saw it again at the weekend, along with Parker's Angel Heart, not bad and has aged quite well - Dafoe and Hackman were brilliant.

You mean there actually was institutional racism in rural America?

Angel Heart is class. Bonet in the buff, Rourke and DeNiro on top form with a decent twist. What's not to like?

No you tit. The story, as laid out by Parker, is claimed to be based on true events. I seem to recall it being rubbished by several historians hence the question - was it, my memory is a bit muddy these days and I'm no longer in touch with my American Studies teacher to clarify.

Edit: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...pagewanted=all doesn't really answer my question, well it goes so far I guess.
