Thumbs up norman whiteside

chronically underappreciated talent, one of my favourite ever united players.

debut at 16, goals in both cup finals at 17, youngest player to play at a world cup at 17.

if not for the bottle and the injuries could have been one of the greats of the game, the lad had everything. hard as £#%&!ing nails as well.

ended up in midfield due to an injury crisis. Highbury I think - born for it.

Sad he had such a short time. Top lad as already said.

Don't think you can say that the skinhead was Underappreciated, Unfullfilled due to injury but as a player for utd he was immense and was rightly a cult hero.

The only thing I'd disagree with is that he had everything. I think he lacked one thing - pace.

With it, he'd have been one of the best in the world. Loved Sizeable Norm.

3-1 down at Anfield, send on Big Norm to stamp on McMahon, final score 3-3.

He used to fancy my sister and we went to the pub to watch the Charity Shield between us and Chelsea in 2000 I think. Chelsea won and Keane got sent off. He was calling Roy a silly boy.

Strange to think he was only about 36 then yet he was from the 80s!! He could have been out on that field with the likes of Sheringham, and Schmeichel who had just retired being of the same age or older!

I remember that interview with him. The one with Alan Hansen and he kept side stepping him

I remember him charging g at Phil Neal off the ball and neal gesturing to the bench a circular index finger around his temple. He was a great passer of the ball as well. Rambo Whiteside.

Great player.

Pretty average human being - well below average with a proper drink inside him.
