They work across separate rings, unless there's something weird about your consumer unit.
Already had power line adapters between upstairs and downstairs, then added the wireless one poop linked to in the upstairs backroom. Now get WiFi to the back of the garden

i've stopped using the powerline completely. it's a hacky solution. someone three doors down uses a microwave and suddenly your internet goes down. wifi is slightly slower but way more reliable.
