Obviously not a United player but pretty certain a young Harry Kane went out on loan when he was a similar age. Not sure how he's done since.

He was too good for the under 23's, but not ready for the first team and he needed to play consistent football at a level that would challange him. Obvious choice is a loan. Having a 20 year old that is too good to play for the under 23's and needs to play competive football against men to continue his development is a good thing to have.

And from the sounds of it he is absolutely bossing it, so hopefully next season his level will be the Premier League. Hopefully in place of Matic and Fred.
