It was Inter who actually had Silvestre in defence back then

all eyes were on inter, i expect. from fergie's perspective the important thing was to rest the key players for inter: fletcher, park and probably giggs. i wouldn't be surprised to see carrick on the bench in milan. rooney is very likely to play wide left for much of the match with ronnie supporting berbles from the right/centre. if evans is fit then something like

vds
o'shea - rio - evans - evra
ronnie - fletcher - giggs - park (-rooney)
berbles
rooney

which will bring plenty of weeping and gnashing of teeth on here, no doubt, along with a 1-0 win for us. then we'll start carrick with fletcher and giggs at home and put 3 or 4 past them.

the weeping and gnashing of teeth has started early, i see

I think the Italian league is overated to be honest and we should treat Inter like we would treat a visit to Villa. United will soak it up and counter at speed.

I see Berbatov playing deep with Rooney and Ronaldo providing the counter attacking pace. Berbatove, Scholes and Giggs will all be gliding into the box in support. 1 or 2-0 to united.

VDS
Fletcher Ferdinand Oshea Evra
Ronaldo Scholes Carrick Giggs
Berbatov
Rooney

Going for 1-1.

Had a little flutter and a couple of quid on Vidic to score our goal.

Saw Fergie interviewed on telly and he said about making one change tactically. I think we all know what that means..............Rooney on the wing and one up front.

£#%&! it Fergie, let's go for it, the more we attack the less chance of our unfit defender (O'Pies or Evans) getting caught out!

one thing is clear - jem is not a man you want to be next to in the trenches.

he's like the guy in platoon who shits himself before the big battle.

Sgt. O'Neill: Bob, I got a bad feeling on this one, all right? I mean I got a bad feeling! I don't think I'm gonna make it outta here! D'ya understand what I'm sayin' to you?
Sgt. Barnes: Everybody gotta die some time, Red.

It's ok mate, you can now send me the cash you would've spent on Vidic.

We have gone 19 games in Europe undefeated, one more match undefeated and we set a new record. In this record breaking season does that sound promising?

Last game we lost in Europe was in the San Siro.

Will be 2-0 Inter.

Rooney on the wing is a big £#%&!ing no no, he'll get pissed off and decapitate Adriano or Ibrahimovic

actually, that might not be a bad thing

I think given that Inter have 2 centrebacks out themselves and will likely have a youngster partnering the epically slow Chivu, we may get at them at the back.
