Manchester United are in trouble with the Football Association again after a dressing-room wall was damaged following their weekend FA Cup semi-final defeat at Wembley.

United and Manchester City are expected to escape punishment over the fracas sparked by Mario Balotelli's celebrations at the final whistle as Roberto Mancini's side clinched a famous 1-0 victory.

But sources say the FA are considering sending United the repair bill after a hole was left in the wall of the away dressing room in the area usually occupied by the manager.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been cleared of any blame, however, after it emerged fitness coach Tony Strudwick caused the damage when he kicked out in anger as United's players came off.

Although the hole was repaired overnight, it was visible when Stoke arrived for the second semi-final of the weekend against Bolton on Sunday.

Strudwick, who was involved in the furious bust-up between United players and Chelsea groundstaff at Stamford Bridge in 2008, wore a headset at Wembley so he could relay the manager's instructions from the stands to his assistant Mike Phelan.

Good job Stoke won, or we would have been blamed, they must have been heartbroken (according to sources) at the repaired damaged being visible.

The incident will do little to thaw the frosty relations between United and football's governing body. Sir Alex Ferguson is currently serving a five-match touchline ban for his criticism of the referee Martin Atkinson, while the manager also recently accused the FA of "victimising" his side following Wayne Rooney's two-game suspension for swearing into a TV camera.
