Tim Howard. He's proven that he's a quality goalkeeper at Everton, but never really looked confident enough at United.

The thought of his flapping attempt to stop that last-minute free-kick against Mourinho's Porto at Old Trafford still hurts.

Nah, he's good but he's susceptible to anything from long range.

Mark Bosnich for me. Was a very good keeper prior to going back United. Don't recall much outrage at him being brought in after schmeichel left.

Then his career completely nosedived. Complete waster who could have done far more if he wasn't a mental midget.

Yup - considering all the shit he had to deal with (quite a bit self-inflicted, tbf) he was an absolute £#%&!ing colossus

mcgrath is the best central defender I've seen. yes, including baresi and maldini.

if he didn't reach his full potential, your standards are way too high. you might as well add bryan robson to the list, as he was "always injured".

Sad to think though if you read his auto biog, there seems to have been nothing that could have helped him. Big Ron took the piss, black and irish, a walking target.

Baresi was desperate to get McGrath's shirt after that Ireland/Italy game in World Cup '94. He ran the full length of the pitch to shake hands with him apparently.

Bobby Noble.

Great fullback destined to lead, his career tragically wrecked in a car crash on washway rd returning from a barcodes game.

Greatest fullback i`ve ever seen.
