Simple truth is that United often get knocked out of things because Alex Ferguson picks teams that are not good enough or are good enough on paper but can't deal with the situation becasue they take the games for granted whilst the opposition up their game (as is to be expected). Ultimate responsibility for that goes to Ferguson, I've no issue with rotating players as it has to be done but there have been occasions when he's made too many or just plain stupid changes in one game it has led to poor results.
