I remember this being a regular thing years ago, for any top young player. Like he had to be involved in the early scouting of any decent talent in Europe / South America.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger rejected the chance to sign Uruguay midfielder Federico Valverde, who is now valued at around £100m, in 2016 before the now 25-year-old joined Real Madrid from Penarol.

I think it's common knowledge that Real want an upgrade. He's a really good player but he's not elite.
