The point is that you can't ship everyone out. That's a stupid idea.

But when you don't ship any out, and obviously don't replace them with new blood, you end up with a mediocre squad. That's what did for us on Sunday as much as anything else.

Re-signing players to new contracts is the inevitable result of our spending policy. Manager pretty much irrelevant.

Herrera and Mata up next.

Two of the greatest managers of the last 30 years (& Van Gaal)

It's not difficult to trace the fact both Van Gaal & Mourinho were & are on their last legs in a football sense. Moyes should have been aborted, there's no point talking about him.

We need a manager that has a sense of ambition, wants to incorporate youth into the side & has, above all else, a dedication to attacking football.

Mourinho's job in untenable for a number of reasons, but ultimately it's because, the same as Van Gaal, the football has been absolutely fucking shit. Van Gaal's cowardice with playing appalling defensive football by just passing it around between the defenders until they fucked up & we got raped on the break is mirrored in Mourinho's cowardice at not wanting to play a midfield. It's unfathomable that either of them haven't identified key players to go & build a side around. Or at least sort out the full backs. Or have any kind of clue how to control a game in an attacking sense.

I'm disgusted with Utd becoming some kind of retirement home for once great managers & now players. We are effectively becoming AC Milan of the last 10 years. It will take an almighty shake-up to turn this floating turd around, highly unlikely that it will be a manager alone that will do that. Woodward needs to restructure the football side & fucking sharpish.

Attempting to get rid of a player you gave a new deal less than 3 months earlier sums it up nicely imo.

He could make an excellent start there by "restructuring" himself out of the club.
