went on a run of something like five games worth of 1-0 wins iirc. but in the long run that result clearly had a psychological effect on our squad and that is something that definitely contributed to our utter capitulation at the tail end of that season.

the main thing is, we responded to an absolute disaster of a result with an emphatic win. let’s just put sunday down to being a horrible anomaly and get back to how we were prior to it - winning every game.

Good 2nd half.

Can we accept Dalot isn't very good and isn't good going forward as people seem to suggest?

Rest assured they'll be scousers in Bootle come the summer with the curtains closed with that game on loop. They are winning £#%&! all this season and we're good for at least another cup. It was their only chance to have one last high before Klopp gets them juiced up to go again next season.

Right back debate should be well and truly over, AWB has his weaknesses, but he is a far better player than Dalot. AWB improving on the ball too, really embracing the freedom ETH's system gives the full back. If he can cut out the back post day dreaming we may not need a new RB after all.

Delighted for Bruno last night, he was a lot calmer and measured in his passing. Ran the show in second half.

Neither are near good enough. One of, if not the weakest part of our team.

This. Both have punched above their weight at certain points this season, but we clearly need an upgrade. We won’t keep both of them once we get a new RB either.

Look at his face! Just look at his face!
Walking in a Weggy wonderland. The horst should be off to the knackers yard! He did get off the ground for one header, ball control on a par with Fellani , the speed of a dried out slug and finishing up there with Gary Birtles in a Utd shirt. Whats not to like about him?

That’s the difference between this season and last season. Last season de Gea’s shite pass goes to Maguire, Lindelof or McT, this year it goes to Varane, Martinez or Casemiro.

The reason for the clean sheet improvement is the same.

Replace de Gea and we improve again.

I don't want to play like that. kudos to the little jinker, but that is asking for trouble. there's a time and a place for passing around the back four and we need to know when to clear the danger. that wasn't worth the risk. fine if garnacho were doing it up the other end of the pitch. good to know martinez
is capable of doing it, but I don't want to see it in that situation (especially not if we manufactured it). that is not a case of cleverly drawing the press.

My point wasn’t that this specific example of the right or wrong time, more that we will be playing out from the back, so we need players who can do it. We need 11 players who are comfortable receiving the ball under pressure. Martinez there - whether he should have received the ball or not - has the composure to keep it and progress the play. You can’t expect to dominate the ball without it.

We’d have gone into half time behind had De Gea not lucked out on his error.

That second half would have been a grind.
