“Physical. Hard working. Head didn’t go down”

We’re Manchester United. I think we should be after a slightly more influential contribution from our star striker than this ffs.

He did seem to graft his %@#$&!s off last night. But there was one moment that summed up his entire United career so far. Battled and fought off three of their players and had someone (Sanchez iirc) open on the right and played an utterly pathetic ball.

The persistence to stick with him is mind boggling

I find it hard to have a go at Lukaku for his performance last night given the "service" he was given however it's so noticeable in these bigger more intense matches when you have less time on the ball that he just doesn't have good enough or quick enough feet

How often does an opposition player just nick the ball away from him as he struggles to get a hold of the ball

Sadly he couldn't be doing anymore to live up to his stereotype of a flat track bully

Would prefer a mobile fluid front 3 of Martial, Rashford and Sanchez but which one of those could deal with the inevitable long balls punted up the pitch

1:44

Also you're thinking ruud would of taken that with his left he probably would of brought it down on his chest and then ripped the net out. Because he can control a ball.

Lukaku is left footed, so if we're comparing like with like...

Pogba did the same, he brought the ball from midfield and went forward, gave him a simple ball and he did what he always does.

The hand ball in the second half wasn't great either, he never looked like he was in control of the chance and had to react.

United won't win anything with him in the team.

4:19 Lukaku should have done better but let's not pretend a ball dropping over your shoulder on the volley is an easy chance now

Yep Ruud might have missed that chance but he knew and we knew he would get other chances in a game like last night

The problem is that WAS our best chance of the night - Ruud normally scored the important goals lukaku doesn’t ... and it is brought into sharper focus because we don’t create that many chances at the moment that we can afford to miss them
