Doesn't get on with Ancelotti apparently.

Been injured a lot more recently though?

I thought that, but he played 41 games last season, 31 in the league. Had one injury of 17 days and missed 2 weeks with Covid apparently.

Previous season he missed 6 days with a "knock" and that's it. Seems he was quite injury prone a few years back, but has played more minutes than anybody but Courtois, Casemiro and Benzema for Madrid in the last 2 seasons.

Varane has been Woody's wet dream CB signing since he took over, this will be his 'remember me' signing.

Prefer Torres tbh. Have a feeling Varane would be horrifically exposed in the prem.

He's big, quick and strong so he should be ok, however I would be concerned about anyone coming to play in England for the first time at 28 tbh.

210 games in the last 5 season doesn't sound like someone who spends half the season injured.

Remember speaking to someone a few years ago that ran a football academy in Lancashire. He reckoned they took in players from overseas and that Varane was one of them (random name drop). If he was talking out of his arse, I’ll never know..but interesting if true.

He nearly joined us but we signed Jonah instead, as he chose Madrid, so it’s possible he was over here at some point..

Would be a very good signing. Excellent player and would suit Maguire.

This is my thinking. He’s without doubt an upgrade on Lindelof, who despite being a complete wimp of a defender has still done well alongside Maguire. Varane is more composed, definitely stronger, and his distribution is good too. Could make a really good pairing. I’ve seen him have some excellent games in the CL.
