Default European Premier League

Backed by FIFA apparently

Sky news saying us and the dippers in talks along with 3 other English clubs.

We’d be relegated in the first season.

Could start as early as 2022.

how could an 18 team league replace just the champions league? surely they'd have to resign from their domestic leagues too.

would be funny if liverpool couldn't win any more english league titles

Each of the founding teams is expected to earn fees paid hundreds of millions of pounds to participate, with clubs such as Manchester United and Real Madrid receiving the biggest sums for joining.

They added that the European Premier League was likely to feature either 16 or 18 teams - meaning a likely minimum of 30 matches for each club, based on a format of round-robin home and away fixtures - although that is said to be among the details being finalised ahead of a formal announcement.

I think it's a good idea tbh. Playing in a league instead of a knockout tournament would definitely stop shit teams fluking a CL win despite not being the best side in Europe...

Wouldn't be that difficult as the money involved would allow the clubs to buy more players to cope with thw extra games.

They could have a core squad and and two additional squads for each league which in time could turn the PL into a development league.

Be interested to see how the fans would afford the extra matches every year once they open the grounds again.

can’t even afford a big enough squad for current competitions without incl players like Lingard. If you think the Glazers and Woodward are going to let Ole or any other manager spend the new funds you are deluded pal

a bit surprised that you guys would be open to United leaving the Premier League??? while i think a night playing in Turin or Munich or Barcelona is better than a cold windy night at West Brom or Stoke but it takes away from the traditions of the club

why would they invite city though? the traditional big european clubs already despise them for the way they flaunt the rules. if the prize money for winning this thing is hundreds of millions, then city could easily use their wealth to win it. why would the other clubs risk that, especially when they have nothing to fall back on?

it would be replacing the english cup competitions because there is no way they could play in two leagues at the same time. The amount of games would be impossible for the players to stay healthy. While i could give two shits about the Carabao Cup, not playing in the FA Cup would be a big loss for the club.
