Football Winter Break

Calls being made again for the winter break and scrapping of FA Cup replays (which of course will be United's fault)... Would you like to see one? I suspect Fredsters will say nope.

Harry Wedknapp made an interesting point that the clubs won't get a break and will jet off to the Middle East for lucrative money making games / tournaments etc so really there won't be a proper break as such...

I think it would be better to reduce the Premiership to 18 or even 16 teams.

There is actually some sort of FIFA ruling or guideline that top leagues should only be 18 teams but of course we in our arrogance decided to ignore it.

I'd have a 4 week winter break and start the season mid July.

Couldn't give a £#%&! what they do with the fa cup now, it's a non-entity that's been ruined by them £#%&!ing with it.

Should align the season with the Scandinavian seasons so that attendances over there fall.

scrap the league cup, its a waste of £#%&!ing time. Most clubs see it as a hindrance instead of the opportunity to blood younger players.

They should make the league cup an under 23 torunament where at least 7 players need to be british and homegrown.

Will help develop young players and stop the more experienced players playing too many games.

Just for the PL teams or for every team in it?

It's just that I imagine there are plenty of clubs who wouldn't have enough players.

I like your thinking though.

That isn't the worst idea in the world tbf.

& a Winter break is needed. They have a couple of weeks off in every other major European league, surely that tells you something about whether it's a good idea or not.

That'd work then.

Get it sent to the FA/PL or whoever.

They'll probably turn it down as they won't make as much money, but worth a try.
