Football World Cup 2022 - Qatar

Match schedules were announced yesterday in what can only be described as literally no fanfare.

As expected, the whole thing is as mad as a clowns #@&%!:

Opening game features Qatar on Monday, 21 November 2022 (10am GMT).

Monday @ 10am ffs

4 group games a day:

Quote:
The group stage will last 12 days and, with four matches every day.

Games kick off at 10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm GMT.

Final group games kick off simultaneously at 3pm and 7pm GMT.
In a change to previous World Cups, the fixture kickoff times will not be known when the draw is made.

Once the pairings are known, games may be moved to a more beneficial kick-off time for audiences at home, or fans in Qatar with regard to the stadium allocation.

Final is on December 18, 2022 (3pm GMT).

Sunday finals

There are only 8 stadiums for the whole thing - Russia had 12. I'm reading a lot people citing this as actually being against FIFA's own guidelines for being able to host a World Cup for 2018 - 2022:

Quote:
For future World Cups, the number of venues is also about the same. FIFA advised applicants for the World Cup in 2018 and 2022 that 16-18 venues should be presented in each application, venues which, in a reasonable manner, should be spread all over the country. Of these 16-18 stadiums FIFA would then choose 12 stadiums.
Here's the best bit.... all 8 of these stadiums are within 40 miles of each other

I'm sure everyone will have their rainbow laces out for this one

It will be unimaginably shit.

They'll probably weave some cheap African labour into them. Raheem Sterling to score the winner holding a black power fist pose.

I don’t know one person looking forward to this, everyone thinks it’s a s**t show. Bet the players are buzzing.

Quite a few business I talk to have said they are looking to downsize their office space, which will obviously reduce overheads and have their staff either alternating days in the office / home or have them doing week in the office, then a week from home.

The adoption of things like Zoom or hangouts has made people think differently too.
