They (and most of the league) are no longer under pressure to sell their best players

Completely different to when we got Berba and Carrick from them

There is that but there was also the time where we would pay the going rate for the best players in the world in conjunction with the clubs revenues.

We’re probably at the stage where it doesn’t mean that much to play for man united anymore when we’re not one of the best sides in the league and we don’t compete for the best players in the world or even in the Champions league.

Example: If we paid the price for Maguire last season we would have probably made the Champions league which would have recouped some of his excessive transfer fee. I’m sure whoever makes the decisions knows best..
