I realise that, its just a point im raising to back up Lingard being a better footballer than James. I can't even begin to imagine James performing like Lingard did and more or less carrying a decent sides attacking threat for any period of time let along a prolonged period.

For the avoidance of doubt, I would still get rid of Lingard.

We definitely agree on at least one thing then.

Can't be making the same mistake as before. We need to be realistic RE transfer fees.

He is leaving on a free next summer. Just lower the price a bit and get him gone to somewhere he can play regularly. The loan to West Ham showed he can do better than just warm our bench. It almost got him into the euros squad.
