I'd demolish that Toad, quite enjoy a bit of contrast of textures, so long as the majority of the yorkie is below the sausage line.

What was it served with? Onion gravy? Beans?

Red wine/onion gravy. Buttered cabbage and carrots plus mash.

Sausages floated on the yorkie like turds in the Irwell.

Would genuinely love to see a restaurant describe it's Toad in the hole like that on the menu

Mash... whilst classic, I feel like that's an overload with the yorkie as well but if it was absolutely lathered in butter you have my blessing.

A fair point. Was starving though.

It was well endowed in the butter stakes, also with a splash of cream. All mashed perfectly with this:
