This.

Positives are that we were utterly dreadful but still won without conceding. We got humped this time last year.

(hopefully) ETH will realise that the balance of that midfield isn't right, and do something to correct it. (hopefully) he has learned that lesson it costing us any points.

Clean sheet and a goal.

Pretty much zero outside of that.

Plenty - we have fantastic pace across the front line and both the wide players have terrific touches and held their shape. We need to work out how to exploit them.

Some good attempts at short quick passing

Good level of confidence from the keeper and a couple of lovely passes.

Once we get the balance right and we need two midfielders in the centre and a centre forward we can take off.

It’s work in progress but you can see the direction and the squad is getting stronger.

Vegan hot dog absolute shite though.

Everyone was suicidal last season when we lost the opening game, now we've won, most are still suicidal.

First game, the first time all of these players have played a competitive game together, we've got decent options off the bench* and we took 3 points. We'll be better vs Spurs, NQAT.

*Sancho came on, we looked better and scored. We do need Amrabat at least though.

possibly the worst utd have ever played and picked up 3 points?

onana is the real deal, anyone who says we didnt need to replace dave is deluded and quite possibly not quite all there mentally, it should have happened years ago

Only 5 players who started the opening game last season started last night. He's turning the ship around and the bench last night had Martial, Sancho and Pellestri..

It's not a one or 2 season job the rot was throughout...he's improving players and discarding those who don't fit.

what is positive about that?

(if we had been playing a team with half-decent finishing... 23 shots, ffs... we would have been shafted. if you look at performance as a guide, rather than simply results, we were shockingly bad. just be glad we got away with it and hope we never play like that again.)

Maybe maybe not...a goal for them may have blown away the lethargy...some bits were good, stacks average and some poor.

I think 3 points is generally considered good news Malcolm.

We got 3 points and probably won't play as bad again this season. Hopefully the players will be much sharper next week as they looked about a yard off last night.
