Even in the 'blue' areas, are still about 50/50, at most 60/40.

There are very few city strangleholds in Manchester. United areas are 90/10 or 75/25, city areas are at best 60/40.

As someone says above, they wear the shirt like a badge of honour, even grown men
Once a United fan gets to about 14, they stop wearing the replica shirts

i agree to an extent, in the "predominantly" blue parts of south manchester there's still a fair number of reds, like in wythenshawe, levenshulme and longsight

however places like gorton, openshaw, ardwick, beswick, clayton etc in east manchester i've always found to have barely any reds. at least, i don't know any from these parts. of course, the tached @#%&!s will use this as some badge of pride, but as far as i care they can keep these shithole areas

(still reeling over that map showing to be more blues than reds in m40)

Born/lived in wythenshawe till i was 14, everybody i knew was red bar some trampy family at the bottom of our road.

The only blue at primary school smelt of shit too

14years in wilmslow, there were more bitters.

Now i'm an Urmston Ultimate Warrior and i shall report back in 10years about my findings.

Have I gone back in time??

Is this the same study by that poor excuse of a sociology prof at university of Salford??

It's a load of shit anyway...

A comparison of how red or blue Manchester is based on ST holders?

Oh right, you are only (on both sides) counted if you can afford a ST then?

Back in the day his thesis got peoples backs up, and it still will!! I know of several Mancunian Fredsters who don't count as reds according to this poorly-thought out thesis

And this guy is a professor

And before Borsuk and his ilk dive-in..

There are more than 75k United fans in Manchester, as there is more than 47k Citeh fans.....

So if ST's were sold solely to mancunians this 'survey' would be of merit

Alas it isn't

It's intrinsic value is simply that the majority of their local ST holders are all from 6-finger territory

Burnage was predominantly blue but I would safely say that has changed in the last 10 years
