Rio is just one of a kind imo. So composed, a bit of a genetic freak as all good centrebacks should be, unbelievable distribution. He was doing the whole classy ball playing centre back act 5/6 years before it became the “in” thing, and he was better at it than anyone who came after imo.

Keane was. Stam was outstanding but when he lost half a yard he was out of the door pronto.

Rio is by a distance the best centre back we've had since McGrath.

Didn't even consider that. Pick two surely?

Rio is one of my fave all time players

One of the most complete CB’s to have played the game imo and genuinely one of the best in the world at his peak.

He played in a win over QPR previously, when he was actually mentioned in some of the match reports as a possible MOTM candidate.

Vidic was an animal. Rep unfairly damaged by a couple of high-profile howlers v Torres. Can remember Rio getting a similar chasing by Craig Bellamy. There’s nobody playing at any club now who is even approaching their standard.

Would love to see Bruce prancing around for us again, the great big nana.
