He wasn't though, was he? I used to dread the teams being announced for fear of seeing his name in the starting line up. Should have been made to retire after Moscow, with his legacy still somewhat intact. The sentimentality shown towards Giggs and Scholes from Ferguson in his final years undoubtedly held United back and is the one of the main reasons why our midfield is still in such a state now.

Absolute %@#$&!s

Even in his last season he was still often our best player on the rare occasions he played
Think of his performance at home against Olympiakos and away in Leverkusen

At times last season I was thinking that we could do with Giggs on the pitch injecting some genuine creativity rather than looking awkward beside LvG on the bench

I think some of the shitehawks we've had in attack since Fergie left should have made us appreciate what an amazing player Giggs was and how important he was as well

A couple of Champions League games against nonentities who gave him time on the ball to spray a few hollywood passes?

Let's be honest, Ferguson was basically asleep at the wheel in the final few seasons and not even attempting to replace Giggs and Scholes was inexplicable.

I know it's hard for you to take that you let Giggs slip through your fingers and watch him lift title after title after title after title after title after title after title after title after title after title after title after title after title with his boyhood club but look on the bright side of life. You're now level with Ji Sung Park on league wins.

Villa at home when Van Persie scored a hat trick to clinch the title, Giggs destroyed a fullback who was almost half his age

Oh right, is that how it works then? Should Bobby Charlton still be in contention for a starting place too?

it's a tribute thread you balloon. you picked one game out of the hundreds he played and said 'what about that one when united got beat'.

well, what about it? what about all the others?

would you post on a bobby charlton thread, what about that one game where he didn't play well and united lost? well would you dave? eh dave? dave?

sa7 highlighted a game which he believed Giggs played well in as justification for Giggs still being in the team despite being well past it, so i countered with an example of a game which Giggs was £#%&!ing horrendous in to prove my point.

Hope this helps, buddy.
