Have always loved the goal he scores at 2 mins 24 secs. Just absolute ruthless efficiency. Vast majority of players there would be let down by either a poor touch, or a completely wayward finish. One touch, bang. Unsavable from the keeper's perpsective. And we had only played about 25 seconds of the game.

yeah he was a finisher of a calibre i've not seen before or since. If i had to choose any united player ever to score a critical goal for me it would be him.

He was an absolute freak. Never seen anyone like him in front of goal.

Also underrated elsewhere. Obviously there was a massive thing about him not scoring many from outside the box blah blah, but his hold up play was brilliant too

Simply the most clinical finisher i've ever seen. Kept up his scoring rate at Real as well, one in 1.5 I think. Given his injury, pretty incredible.


Which makes it all the more astonishing that Fergie called time on him after the ronnie spat and was right to do so in terms of his (ronnies) development.


lunctime star spots: saw ruud at the trafford centre once, got starstruck, called out to him (he was with his family), he actually looked over and I wasn't sure what to do so gave him a thumbs up. He looked at me like 'wtf m8'. Makes my teeth itch to this day.

He was like Eric and Zlatan - through on goal, just the keeper to beat and you'd back them with your house. Fantastic player.

Remember how jarring it was when he did miss a sitter, simply because it didn't happen that often.
