Would be happy to have him on board as a sporting director tbh.

Yep, like OGS he understands what the club is about - whilst having had the sense to keep his distance from the Class of 92 brigade.

Lad seems to know his onions... supposed to be a clever chap.

I wonder if Ajax made similar noises to our fans when the likes VdS and Overmars were being given roles

You'd much rather have another banker in charge then?

Would have won in Rome if he wasn't wrongly suspended

Fletcher would be a solid move. Super bright guy - have met him a bunch of times as he used to live round the corner from my Mum and Dad. A few lads I know have rinsed his missus as well

(pre Fletch)

Would rather have some qualified for the role tbh. As clever as Fletch seems to be from the quote above and as well as Ajax have done in a situation that doesn’t remotely resemble ours, I was rather hoping for someone with contacts across Europe for players with potential. Someone that has an inkling about contracts/transfer fees wouldn’t go amiss either.

Fergie is basically running the club again isn't he?

Fully expecting McClair in as assistant to the sporting director.

It was alright.

But let's be honest, give him the chance and Frog will have his sons and Sean Connery on the transfer committee.

I'm just glad we have all learned our lesson about having an entire club geared around one man.

The board have no idea about where they want to end up on the field and so they have no idea how to get there. From Paratici and Berti to Phelan and Fletcher, 6 months after sacking the supposed obstacle to a DoF we seemingly don't even have a profile of the DoF we are after. Enjoy the Boot Room years.

These appointments would be a sign woodward was serious about getting a cohesive culture and identity back. Everyone with congruent views and pulling in the same direction. Something that’s been missing for years.

Makes me optimistic he may not actually be an obstructive presence in what ole wants to do this summer. Although there’s a shit story or two floating around that seems too stupid to be true concerning right back targets.

Agreed. I think it shows the club is being patient and taking stock. Perhaps going back to its roots. The things that make us the club we are. When United try to be something they aren’t they fail. Same with all massive clubs. There’s only about 5 or 6 of them in the world. When these clubs go back to what they are built on, they succeed.
