The ticket money itself is nothing.

TV rights, sponsors etc are everything. However if OT is half empty for the foreseeable it would take years for sponsors and the like to drop as well.

The point is trying to hit the glazers in the pocket would take £#%&!ing ages, the immediate effect of an empty stadium would do £#%&! all money wise.

I think some are missing my point.

Im not saying what we should or shouldnt do or what is the right thing to do.

Im saying a couple of quid from a few thousand tickets wont make a difference to them.

Adidas saying £#%&! you and our official wine and light bulb sponsors £#%&!ing off and we might be onto something.

Appreciate one leads to the other but shit football and zero trophies also will make the sponsors £#%&! off but it wont happen over night.

That's not really accurate.

Firstly, it would be incredibly unusual for a premiership team to experience a walk out. It's never happened with our club before. That would amplify the already big media impact a walkout would have. Although a single game, the question would be raised by every entity financially investing in the club. That's an additional headache that can only be appeased by promises of improvement. Promises they are already having to make to sponsors who's contribution will fall if we fail to get CL football again this season.

The only real issue is the broadly apathetic and self-deceiving fans who just sit in their seat like happy little frogs boiling in the pan. Totally spoiling any impact a walk-out could have had. In reality nowhere near enough will actually do it, the cameras will see a divided fanbase and the media will look at it like a group of indecisive teenagers that don't know what they want.

As it stands I can see the only real visual being (possibly) the singing section being completely emptied. In isolation that one block may work to raise a few eyebrows. But the idea that a large enough percentage of the entire stadium will leave, is incredibly unlikely. I hope I'm wrong.

Embarassing for the club yes and it could be an eye opener for them but people who have already paid to then walk out makes no odds moneywise.

Dont renew and dont go would be much better if empty stadium is what we are after.
