Why oh why did the old @#%&! get me hooked on such a mentally destructive obsession of the love of Manchester United.
There's actually footage of that match

The football we played at the start of 85-86 was as good as anything we've played. Tv coverage started again in time for our inevitable collapse when Robson was injured.

Big Ron had all our matches video recorded so there is plenty of footage out there of our start to the 85-86 season
I actually have the full 90 minutes of that Southmpton match in 85 but you can find the goal at 7:12 on this vid

These were all on those shitty 'compilation of goals' videos that came out every year. The production values have increased a bit since then.

That was the game closest to my 10th birthday. My mum wrote to United asking could they say happy 10th birthday to me and to get choccy to give me a wave. He did I ate a dodgy burger and was sick when I got in and got the day after off school.
Oh and it finished 1-2 Hughesy scored a scissor kick.

If only I'd known that just 20 short years later I'd be watching Marouane Fellaini, yes THE Marouane Fellaini, gliding across the Old Trafford turf

Saw a few youth games before that, including the leeds final where I remember a pocket of their fans disgusting even my child brain

if MOE / grandaders are programme hoarders the 56/57 youth final vs west ham programme goes for £300 on ebay

Fulham at home 28th of March 1967. We won 2-1. Sat in the South stand with my dad.

We played them the day before at Craven Cottage and drew 2-2. Nobby Stiles scored in both. Got the red bus at Patricroff Bridge which dropped you in the park somewhere around where the big roundabout is. I can still remember the "Trafford Park" smell walking up to the ground.
