Default Red News : Fundraiser

Only just heard about this.

Quote:
Support YOUR FANZINES and Save RedNews - 425 subscribers needed to sign up and SAVE the fanzine for 24/25. Or we sadly can't carry on.

crowdfundr.com/rednews2024 (Please see bottom of the page for full subscription and donation options).

We appreciate you. Your kindness in a noisy world to get what fanzines are all about. But we need YOU.

YOU can make a difference TODAY to something truly unique, run for fans, by fans, by subscribing for the year ahead and supporting the fanzine for 24/25. Thank you!

We're 37 years old on April 20th 2024. Thank you for your kind support during that period. We have had some fun. But we've still got so much left to say! Fighting YOUR corner and for YOUR voices.

- We think the need for real, unofficial supporters' voices, particularly fanzines, is as important as ever.

- Our annual campaign is now open. It ends on July 31st 2024. Please support it if you can.

- We have to run this campaign to know we can cover costs for the year ahead with rising costs, some of which can come suddenly, and unexpectedly (such as the two post rises this past year instead of the usual one).

- The cover price remains at £4, but you can donate extra if you wish. Thank you.

- We can't gamble on our future. Sorry.

- We know there is a lot of MUFC 'out there' nowadays, but we still hope you value fanzines and see our worth, that we remain a small but important component in MUFC fan culture. We're different. We don't always get it right, but we always have a go. MUFC fan culture will always endure, but we think it would be a bit of a loss if we weren't around to fight for it as well.

We still love what we do!

- We're still a fanzine. No more, no less. The way we like it.

- We often hear 'support the fanzines' , 'we will miss them when they are gone' - so this is the moment, if you can, to please back that belief up by supporting the mag if you are able to.

- A number of options are available for you to SUPPORT AND SAVE RED NEWS for 24/25;

- A PRINT SUB
- A PDF by email SUB.
- DONATE. (anything helps and no amount is too small. It all goes on costs)
- A PRINT SUB and DONATE a 2nd subscription to a Red who may be in need.

- Take a look at what is the best option for you. Any one of them is a huge help and support for us. Ask us any questions.

- We know times are tough, so any support helps. And if you can't support, please let us know, privately, so we can add you to our (anonymous) list so that other Reds can maybe help out with a sub donation until things are brighter for you. We just hope you're ok.

We always feel a tad scared to press send on our 'save Red News' campaign as we know one year it won't reach target. We really don't want that to be this year. The target is 425 Reds being met over the next four months.

We're small, but proudly, and fiercely, independent so YOU being one of the 425 who saves RedNews is supporting something unique and that YOU have played a huge part in continuing by supporting.

Even with post as it is, we want to print on. Why? Because that's what we are in essence (on recycled paper of course), and to maintain a visible presence so the club might try and ignore us, but they will always see us, every home game - now 1160 games and counting we've sold RedNews at. They know we are there to be a thorn if necessary, whatever the weathers on or off the pitch, constructively criticise and also praise where it fits!

If online payment/paypal is a difficulty for you (apologies, we know it can be), just let us know at [email protected] and we can then send you the RN bank details instead, or details where to send a cheque to, and you can also now pay for a sub by card or cash at a game, just let me have (old school, I know) a note with your address and email details on it when you come to pay.

Please know this, we appreciate every single reader, all of you, near, far, those who email us thoughts, letters or those who just like reading the thoughts of others. We think RedNews is still worth having around, and it would be quite a sad day when we are gone for good. The fanzine is YOU, and without YOU, we are no more. Please keep contacting us with YOUR opinions, letters and articles.

And please, please SPREAD THE WORD.

You won't always agree. Great. That's healthy. We don't always get it right, who does?, but we will put everything into each mag like we always do; caring, a visible presence each and every home game. We try to adapt, we always try, and we care; about you, our club, our community. The great parts that make up our MUFC.

We launch this campaign each Spring so we know we can carry on, and plan ahead with stability. It's done early to give Reds time to support. And gives us time to plan ahead with the printer, etc and then deal with the increasingly difficult and unpredictable rising costs, especially in postage. We are NOT putting up the cover price, and we will remain with double issues. And 7 mags again next season if the target is reached.

If you enjoy absolutely any aspect of our fanzine - the podcasts, the forum, our social media, or just simply get what we are about and believe in fanzines - we need YOU, NOW!

- If you enjoy the podcasts please do try and support the campaign if you can. We can't have one without the other. We're so glad so many of you enjoy our pods, and with many more listeners than mag readers, now is the time, if you can, to support the mag that the pod comes from. We do not have backers, advertisers, etc.

Thanks in such a big, ever changing, world for stopping and supporting the fanzine - I hope you realise how kind that is of you.

It's about YOU; YOUR stories, your views, your support.

You'll get a fanzine; warts and all. YOU get what fanzines are all about! We think it's great still being around, a fanzine, in this day and age.

(Please note any new subs for this campaign will start from the August 2024 mag and cover the 7 mags we will print next season.)

Thank you!

And take care of yourselves and all the very best for the future, from Barney and all at RedNews.

Target = 425 subscribers.

Glory Glory Man United!

Limited interactions but barney one of nicest people irl going...

Saw selling for Fulham and hardly any stop and buyers... Feels like the tide is going out for print fanzines... Meanwhile goldbridge flies high. The World has changed and it doesn't look better

Wit and intelligence losing to low rent banter and shouty opinions. The idiocracy is well established by now.

In truth, the tide went out for them some time ago.

It is a minor miracle that Red News is still going and I do hope this isn't the end of the road after all

Usually enjoyed RI/UWS but could never get into Red News, will still support them as they are a vital resource for fan advocacy. Incredible to think that a fanbase as large as ours and we might be down to one fanzine
