One of the best brilliant aspects of sport is that you can’t predict it. Nothing is a given or ‘expected’. If it was, it would be boring. There are no par games or the like because thats shape-shifting. Fulham are a tougher side now than 8 weeks ago. Liverpool are worse now. Some games follow a defeat and the context changes. Some are during an injury spell etc etc. You can’t simply assign a par to hole where the length of the fairway and positioning of the bunkers changes at a whim.

If only there was some kind of table that took into account all of these eventualities over a 38 game season.

Some of the stats these days are just space-filling crap. ‘Key passes’, ‘chances created’... who is defining what a chance is?

What does it matter if you have 30 chances and lose 1-0? The end result is points dropped - the xG stuff is for virgins and nonces. Needs volleying in the bin
