Question Has Alan Shearer been forgotten has a player now?

Looking at a couple of threads lately where we have spoken about great players and Shearers name has never cropped up once. Seems his legacy as best ever striker in the premiership is already forgotten!

Nope, he was one 'the' very best!!

Few players in the world ever you could honestly had to put your life on to score in a one on one, Shearer would be in that list! no doubt

I agree fully with what you are saying but he isn't the first name on anyones list of great players. He should have been but he certainly isn't.

It was a joke

In all seriousnessness Poppins was just Roy of the £#%&!ing Rovers from about 1993-1996. Scored every type of goal, both feet, headers, free-kicks, long range, short range.....and about a million penalties to be fair.

Shame he was more interested in money than trophies but there you go.

Nothing wrong in having pride and honour to play for the club you love. I seriously think Utd would have won those games ie monaco and galatasaray if shearer would of been in. He would of given us that killer touch needed at the time in Europe

ill remember him has one of the best and i think history will.

Some guy on the radio was saying that Shearer was the last example of a footballer following his head rather than his heart/money when he signed for Newcastle.

They were talking about Ashley Cole being greedy when he signed for Chelsea.

I'm not convinced, chaps. If Shearer had signed, would we have had Eric?

True, he was a good goalscorer, but then again, so was RVN.

The first time we missed out on him, we got Eric instead.

The second time we missed out on him, we got Ole instead.

I'm more then happy with how history played out

we missed out on 2 european cups also. not having a go at eric or ole here but at the time shearer was our missing link. i am glad we never signed the @#%&! but there is no disputing his talent, that was my initial point. greatest striker in the best league in the world and no one will ever give a £#%&!.
