Pure enthusiasm I'd say, like the hyperactive kid who's always covered in bruises. He'll simmer down in time and the injuries will become less frequent.

Make him wear steel toe cap boots from now on and he will be fine.

Fabregas and Ronaldo don't charge around with the sheer enthusiasm of Rooney, alright, maybe Ronnie does to some extent but he also got his fair share of mid season breaks.

Mixture of both I would say. Ronaldo, Rio & Fabregas (all mentioned above) have more athletic body types than Rooney. (But then again so does Saha)

Rooney's two big injuries have been impact injuries... haven't they?

how can that be indicative of his susceptibility to injury?

if he kept pulling up with torn muscles etc. then yes, i would say he was injury prone... but this is just bad luck.

Good point, but down to, in some way, the way he charges around like a loon. So maybe in that sense he is injury prone.

actually only the last one was impact.

the other two he did running on his own. (chelsea (a) and portugal 04.)

eh? he's broken metatarsal before hasn't he? against portugal, which by definition has to be an impact injury?

£#%&!ing hell. you can't break your foot like that just running.
the portugal one was when the defender trod on his foot.
and the chelsea one was in a challenge with ferraria i think.

not against portugal it didn't....

i am nearly 100% sure of that.

and he didn't "just break it" by running on it against chelsea...

Quote:
Wayne Rooney, England's young star in the World Cup squad, broke the fourth metatarsal on his right foot yesterday following a tackle during a match between his team, Manchester United, and Chelsea.
another version...

Quote:
Chelsea's Paulo Ferreira put in a strong tackle on Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and clearly won the ball. Although the challenge wasn't a foul it left the Manchester United front man writhing in agony in the Chelsea penalty box in evident distress
He's a big unit, who runs about like a blue arsed fly, he's bound to get injuries like this.... it doesn't mean he's a runt or injury prone....
