Mate, c’mon. It isn’t the price; City haven’t paid 80 and 90m for any player. It’s who we’ve spent it on and who’s coaching them. Walker was on nobody’s radar, and certainly not at that price. Where was the clamour for de Bruyne, Sane, Silva when they were available? Nowhere. You really think we couldn’t have gotten Mahrez? We could have had any of those players had we wanted.

Or to move it on from City, who was crying out for Mane, Salah, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain etc?

I liked Mane a lot, but he was up and down with Southampton; injured quite a bit as I recall. Pleased when vG was in for him, but not devastated when he went to Liverpool. We could have had all those players as well. Though Milner and OC you can still keep.

And most of them aren't better than what we have. They're just coached better and part of a positive team that are all pulling in the right direction.

I was watching Sterling yesteday. He bangs in shit loads of goals and is crucial to them ..... but he isn't actually that good. Martial is a much better footballer... but one is thriving and the other cut a frustrated figure.

Most City and Liverpool players are playing to or above their potential. Most of ours are below.

When they signed Aguero and Silva we were bringing in Smalling and Jones and replacing Ronaldo with Valencia.

Moyes wasn’t backed in the transfer window and Van Gaal was unlucky with a few of his signings but I agree with you. The funds haven’t always been ready like it has for them.

It’s hard to be that critical of Fergie when he was winning titles with Smalling, Jones and Valencia, but yes, we could have had those players.

No excuses for dithering Dave and the Tulip though. One inherited a title team and the other spent loads on shite, just like Mourinho.

Nah, fair enough. Not all of them.... but some are better because they're in better sides. They signed because they'll fit in too.

Salah and Mane would struggle in our side. Sterling would get £#%&!ing nowhere.

Nobody flourishes in our side. Everything is just a horrible £#%&!ing grind.

Yeah. We don't play proper football, and we wouldn't even with better players whilst Mourinho is in charge. That's one of the biggest problems. All of our forwards are capable of more, IMO.

There really is no point in persisting with Mourinho. We are just wasting time and further damaging those players who might still be salvaged. I think we should forget about any short term goals for the season [i.e. in terms of finishing top 4, or somehow winning something]. "Forget" is maybe too strong a word - obviously we should be trying to win every game we play, but our primary focus should be on making a good team that play football in the proper way.

I'd love to see a fixed formation and an emphasis on playing some £#%&!ing football from now until the end of the season. Mata finally given a run playing in the hole, Perreira in midfield, Martial and Rashford kept in the side. By the end of the season, we'd have a better idea of which players are good enough, which ones aren't [so be it], and which ones can do a job until we can get someone better to replace them. Why wait until the summer to begin this process? Start now, ffs. It's a dead season anyway. In a way, it's the only positive aspect of the whole affair - we have £#%&! all to lose. Use the season.

Is this serious?

Sterling has delivered for Liverpool and City time and time again when it matters. He’s one of the best players in a team that is currently wiping the floor with United. Where is the evidence that Martial is on the same planet as him?

They just played in the same match two days ago. Sterling bullied defenders twice his size and Martial sulked about anonymously like every other mediocre @#%&! who plays for us.

Tbf I think he means talent level. In Martial's debut season he scored 17 goals while Sterling - who is a year older - got 11. At that time I don't think you'd have found a single person on this forum who would have swapped them. Same goes for Sane, De Bruyne etc.

There's no doubt Guardiola has been brilliant for Sterling, while Mourinho has been damaging for our young players.

They all look damaged at the £#%&!ing moment.

The manager included.

it's a mutually poisonous relationship that needs ending ASAP

What siders said.

Very effective player that city wouldn't swap for anyone.... but technically, he's not great. See how he falls to bits in the box on a regular basis.

I think his England performances are a better indication of how he'd compare in a United side, as they are comparably shit.

Martial is much more talented imo.

If they swapped teams, they would swap fortunes.
