Default Latest financial results + Woodward conference call

Manchester United have announced a record second quarter revenue of £122.9million.

Things may not be going according to plan on the pitch, with United in seventh place in the Premier League and out of both domestic cups, but off the field their commercial pull and global appeal remains as strong as ever.

As well as the record quarterly revenue, United have announced that their income from sponsorship has increased by 39.4 per cent and their year-to-date adjusted net income is up 19.6 per cent. Commercial revenues of £42.3m are up 18.8 per cent for the quarter and 30 per cent for the year to date.

United's coffers have been boosted by six new sponsorship deals activated during this period - Unilever, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Banif Bank, Fuji TV, SPOTV Korea and STC.

Figures also reveal United have paid out £686m in interest payments and servicing the debt incurred following their takeover by the Glazer family, who own the club.

paraphrased -

"not concerned about not finishing CL"

IS concerned about "selling shirts like some people down the road still manage to do and haven't won the league for many years"

A question pitched to Woodward about whether not competing in Champions League football will affect our ability to pull in sponsors. His response:

"Some of our competitors haven't won the league for a long time but still sell shirts"

The future's bright.

Selling shirts is more important than competing for the European Cup tbf.

Pretty sure Sir Matt only took United into Europe against the Football League’s wishes, in order to open new markets for the club to sell their crap to.
