Default Just watching Everton v United 1995/6

Not long after the cup final (damn you rideout), the similarities between everton's tactics last month and in this game are striking.

Lots of aggression, high pressing, hard tackles, even kanchelskis on the wing to add some quality.

the difference? roy keane and Nicky Butt in the middle backed up by the likes of irwin, Pallister, Bruce all hard as nails and willing to take it and give it.

even lee sharpe put kancheskis out of the game with a chopping tackle, something which you'd never see us do now.

that Everton side was the last one (before this current spell) to have anything like a half decent record against United so seems an odd comparison

Indeed he was, until they got relegated that season. Then he switched to his other London love Wimbledon for 1996/7.

I went to my first Cup final against them in '95. I was 7 going on 8. Bastards.

Surely saffers meant the year before as in the 94/95 season?

Came across as him correcting sparks when he said a few months before. If he wasn't correcting him then it didn't really make any sense. So either way he's had a Harri.

You'd have written us off after the opening game at Villa and the Everton win would've been papering over the cracks.

Then we'd make a Nintendo or Sega Mega Drive joke about you or something.
