He did absolute £#%&! all wrong for that Varane header. If that was weeble £#%&!horse or whatever his name is up the other end, there’s no way they disallow it.

Equally if he hadn’t stepped into the defender, Varane would’ve scored anyway and there’d have been no cause to disallow. That said, £#%&! all was said about the two handed push that helped him into the offside position to begin with.

Once Rodriguez got in in goal I’ve no idea where Maguire was trying to go. Goalside was to both their right hand side, yet Maguire was desperately trying to get back onto Rodriguez’s left side as if it would make a difference. Just utterly brainless.

Not to mention him and Shaw running into each other for the umpteenth time.

Did that cart horse even get a talking to after he nearly crippled The Scottish Player?

BT Sports talking about him as if he played like prime Drogba, whereas it was standard Sunday League clogger stuff.

Varane is a genuine worldie, strolling around like a boss every game, looking for all the world like some unruffled 80's Maimi gigolo.

Maguire's keystone cops routine, along with his massive ugly head, well, its not done him any favours at all having that beautiful bastard next to him.

Big decision for Ralf if Lindelof is fit on Saturday. Maguire and Shaw seem to bring out the worst in each other. Maguire such an uninspiring captain.

lindelof has to start ahead of that wardrobe this weekend.

also an indication of if our new manager is about anything will be how treats maguire.

he has to be tossed out.

tbf he dropped him for a good 2 or 3 games for Lindelof, who only didn't start the next one because his gaff got robbed....

I think he'll end up dropped for Lindelof by the end of the season.

would you replace him with Tarkowski ?
who is prem proven and a massive red.
ok the two are typical "english" defenders but he would play for the shirt no question and with all the business needing to be done he is on a free in the summer.

Only realistic hope of getting anything like £50m is Newcastle. No one in Europe would touch him and no one else with cash or a brain in England.

I think relieving him of the captaincy will be a blessing in disguise for him. He is much better than what he has been showing in the last few months. Whether his best form is good enough still is another question but right now he looks like a man who is sick of the sight of a football.

He's not though really. At his best he's barely average. A complete waste of money when we already had better defenders we let go for virtually nothing and with a small bit of work could have found better players for a fraction of the cost
Taking the captaincy off him won't make him a better player. At his age he's not suddenly going to acquire the necessary ability and intelligence. He should be dropped from the team and sold in the summer for whatever we can get. He won't be though and he'll still be lumbering around next season.

Make someone who has never won a medal captain, and this is what you get.
